Hey, if you lose your data with Ubuntu, come on over to Kubuntu, we will Keep (cheesy, I know) your data safe. In the past 5 years of running "pre-release" versions, I haven't lost anything, that I didn't want to lose. Well one time I did lose everything, but that was an error by me. Forgot to log in to my chroot before deleting the ~/ :) oops.

You are right though, it isn't the data loss that could occur with a pre-release, more so than it is the instability and buggy'ness of it.

Running on pre-release versions is addicting. I love to read about the changes made in the updates, and then see the changes appear before my very eyes!

However, we should mention that this is a VERY dangerous way to run a computer, and should ONLY be used if you do not mind losing all data on the computer. This works great if you have a laptop that you only use for browsing the web.

I just don't want to see any people upset about Ubuntu because they lost all their data when running on an pre-release. Don't you agree?

I’m like that too, always dist-upping to the bleeding repo :) The last time something horridly broke was the X.org 6.8->7.0 transition, and before that, something on Debian, where they were a bit careless about what gets into the repository.
