I definitely won't be able to make it to any of these events (being a busy college student, and being in Vermont) but I would love to have the feeling of going through the basics thoroughly. I know there's documentation for starting developers online, but it's hard to know where to start or what's important now. Is there any chance that material (ideally text) from these courses will be made public online, open-source style?

I would LOVE some Ubuntu development classes at my college.

I want to hear how this goes, as yours could be a case study for such a proposal here.

Hi there.. this seems pretty interesting. The Peruvian LoCo Team, was thinking on something like this, to teach others about Ubuntu Development (Nxvl is supposed to be in charge of this). If you create some kind of documentation are we can do anything to help, just let know :).

You might try linux groups at DePaul, UIC, etc. It should not be very difficult to obtain classrooms. DePaul has wired classrooms which record lectures, computer screen, projector, and whiteboard. This means you could distribute training material to a pretty wide audience (if the university allows you to utilize their resources as such). It probably depends on money though. If this is not for profit, it should be possible. You just have to contact the linux user groups at the various universities.
